Mexico Maya Vinic Coffee 340g – La p’tite Brûlerie

In your cup, Maya Vinic has a classic Chiapas profile, with a medium body, lively acidity, balanced by sweet and deep flavors of caramel, dark chocolate and spices. At LpB – La p’tite Brûlerie, our roasting allows us to develop notes of hazelnut, nougat and milk chocolate flavors. This coffee is a delight for drinkers of black coffee, espresso or filter. The roasting is dark, but without bitterness.

Our partner, the Maya Vinic Producers Union, is made up of some 500 families of coffee producers located in 38 upland communities in the municipalities of Chenalhó, Pantelhó and Chalchihuitán, in Chiapas, Mexico. Each member owns on average one hectare of land and produces around 400 kilos of coffee beans per year. Inspired by the traditions of their ancestors, Maya Vinic operates with respect for the language, local culture, traditional forms of autonomous governance, but also in reverence for Mother Earth.

Survive a tragedy and create Maya Vinic

Our partners imagined the Maya Vinic cooperative in the aftermath of the Acteal massacre (1997), where 45 members of their community, including women and children, perished in a shootout linked to political struggles in this area. Three years later, with the birth of Maya Vinic, they were able to lay the foundations for a new life in the community.

In an effort to offer coffee of constant quality, cultivated with care and with respect for their natural resources, the cooperative offers its farming members regular education and capacity-building activities focused on sustainable agricultural techniques and l importance of a strong social economy.
