Harvest and artisanal production
Bees and our beekeeping
Beekeeping is a collaborative effort between humans and insects built on mutual respect. It’s a respect for a community that, through individual effort, creates collective magic. This vision guides the daily actions of Miels d’Anicet!
The driving force of nutrition
The bee plays an important role in feeding the planet. Approximately 40% of the foods we consume are produced through insect pollination, with bees being the primary pollinators. The significance of the bee’s role in our food supply goes far beyond honey production. It’s up to us to care for them and ensure that both the human pantry and the bee’s pantry are diverse and rich.
Honey and our territory
Melliferous, authentic, and wild
Located 275 km north of Montreal, the honey farm is established in the Hautes-Laurentides, at the foot of Montagne du Diable, in a hilly area dotted with natural meadows, forests, lakes, and rivers. It is a wild, forested region free from intensive agriculture, providing an extremely high-quality environment for the beehives of Miels d’Anicet.
This results in a territory with a floral abundance that signifies health for the bees: black cherry, cherry, and dandelion in spring; linden, clover, vetch, raspberry, crucifers, and sweet clover in summer; and eupatorium, goldenrod, and aster in autumn. This diversity gives Miels d’Anicet’s honeys an incredible texture and complexity of flavors that vary with the seasons.
Community, knowledge, and honey culture
Involved in the development of honey culture in Quebec, we fight every day against the notion that honey is a homogeneous and unremarkable product, characterized mainly by being yellow, sweet, and sold in a bear-shaped jar. Thus, at every stage of packaging, we ensure that consumers receive the purest, most authentic, and most delectable honey, all while leaving the smallest possible footprint on the environment.
Raw & wild honey: A reflection of nature
An exclusive product from the Hautes-Laurentides region, our honey is harvested with the utmost respect from our apiaries scattered across the countryside of Ferme-Neuve, an area that has preserved a nearly unique diversity of wildflowers in Quebec. We market between five and seven varieties of honey, each showcasing a unique world of flavors.
The spring cuvée, rich in dandelion pollen, is creamier. The linden honey is sweet, fresh, and slightly mentholated, while the buckwheat honey is more robust, reminiscent of a journey in a barn. In all cases, the recipe is simple: avoid human manipulation and leave the honey in its pure state.
Miels d’Anicet offers a range of raw, unfiltered honey, which preserves traces of pollen, propolis, and beeswax. Cold extraction ensures the preservation of aromas as well as nutritional values.
A tasting experience that transports you to the heart of the hive, allowing you to savor the unique flavor of honeycomb, all while leaving the smallest possible footprint on the environment.
Artisanal production
Gathered by the bee, created by Mélia
Somewhere in the vast and wild territory of the Hautes-Laurentides, brave bees uphold the balance of the world. Mélia draws from their gentle craftsmanship to offer you a range of body care products that are naturally beneficial.
The large Mélia family consists of over 70 handcrafted products made in our workshop on Rang 2 Gravel by a team of artisans who, with meticulous hands and attentive eyes, pour and emulsify each product from the Mélia range.
All Mélia creations stem from our love for bees and the harvests from our 1,200 hives: honey, a skin ally; beeswax, a remarkable silky protector; and propolis, a natural antibiotic with antibacterial and healing properties.
Our product range contains no fragrances; it is scented solely with essential oils. The preservatives are of natural origin (grapefruit seed extract and vitamin E). No other synthetic components, parabens, or sulfates are used in the manufacturing process.
Gourmet by nature
Finally, as one of our ambitions is to share our love for honey and its uses, we also have a range of gourmet products that highlight honey-based cooking. The goal is to choose the perfect harmony between a type of honey and a recipe, without ever compromising on ingredient quality.
This results in about twenty products, both savory and sweet, crafted on the farm by a dedicated team that loves honey.
The savory items | Mustards, BBQ sauce, hot sauce, chutney, and more. Products that enhance your everyday dishes!
The sweet items | Spreads, marmalade, granola, nougat, lozenges, gingerbread, and more. A collection of treats that satisfy your sweet tooth without going overboard!
