Making difficult choices to uphold our values: relevance, rigor, and authenticity
To all our loyal customers, we would like to inform you that the farm has decided that it will voluntarily withdraw from organic certification.
Certified organic since 2006, we have always adhered to these principles. This decision, which has been carefully considered, is based on our conviction that Miels d’Anicet will continue to offer products of exceptional QUALITY and that our bees will remain healthy, despite the absence of certification.
Health of the bee
This decision follows an analysis of the proposed changes to the future organic standard and the challenges we face to ensure our sustainability. Our experience and beekeeping knowledge lead us to conclude that certain changes in the standard, such as winter feeding, could jeopardize the health of our bee colonies and limit our ability to keep them alive in the context of climate change.
Our practices remain the same
It is crucial for us to reassure you: NOTHING WILL CHANGE. Our hives will remain in place in their apiary, in the same wild territory of the Hautes-Laurentides, ensuring our bees have a rich pantry for their health and guaranteeing the quality of the taste of Miels d’Anicet.
If you have concerns about pesticides, please rest assured that we share those concerns. We can assure you that our hives are and will continue to be located in areas that meet organic standards, providing an abundance of flowers from wild, spontaneous vegetation free of pesticides.
Our methods of work also remain unchanged (cold extraction of honey, heating honey to 40 degrees, products and tools used in the hives) to ensure the quality of our honeys and derived products.
For our Mélia and Gourmand collections, we will continue to prioritize local and organic sourcing, even though the products will now be non-certified.
Responsible and local beekeeping, along with our commitment to preserving bees, is more than ever at the heart of our entrepreneurial values. We aim to maintain the authenticity of our practices.
We thank you for your trust over the years and sincerely hope that you understand our decision, which will ensure the future of the farm and the health of our bees. Practicing humane, intelligent, and compassionate beekeeping will always remain at the core of our mission at Miels d’Anicet.
