Does honey expire?
No, honey doesn’t expire. Due to its unique chemical composition and natural properties, it can be stored indefinitely. As long as it is kept in a dry place and away from heat (below 25°C), honey remains delicious and safe to consume. However, it is still recommended to consume it within 2 years of harvest to fully enjoy its flavors!
Why doesn't my honey taste or look the same every year?
Most of our honeys are polyfloral, meaning they consist of a wide variety of nectars from different flowers. As a result, each flower is not equally represented in the honey from season to season, depending on the temperatures and humidity that influence the relative abundance of each species. Additionally, the flowers around each of our apiaries may vary in abundance, which can be reflected in the color and taste of the honey. Each season is unique in its aromatic complexity, allowing us to produce honey that is characteristic of its season and year. This is the richness of natural honey, where differences in color and taste are celebrated!
How long does honey last?
Honey lasts indefinitely! We recommend consuming it within two years of harvest.
Honey storage tips
Crystallized raw honey doesn’t tolerate high temperatures (over 25°C), which can cause its crystalline structure to collapse (phase separation). It should ideally be stored in a cool place, with a temperature not exceeding 20°C.
Liquid honey will crystallize over time, returning to its natural crystallized form. This crystallization is normal and natural, occurring in all unpasteurized honeys. It can happen within 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the type of honey.
